Mississippi Tax Liens

Mississippi Land Tax Sales - Property taxes are due three times a year. February 1, May 1, August 1. For two weeks after those dates, the county must publish the list of unpaid taxes or post it at the county level. Tax Lien sales occur the first Monday in April or the third Monday of September.

Unlike personal debts, tax liens on real estate "run with the land"; that is, a property owner becomes responsible for payment even if the tax obligation was incurred by a prior owner.
