New York State is a tax deed state.

The tax sale dates vary by county.

New York may, but is not required to start the bidding at the back taxes, penalty and costs.

Albany County tax sales occur in July.
Fulton County tax sales occur in August.
St. Lawrence County tax sales occur in October.

New York City is also allowed to sell tax liens.
